Directions
to Jericho Sailing Centre, Vancouver,
BC
From the US: Entering Vancouver on I5/Highway 99, Jericho is to the north and west. The easy way to get there is to stay on the I-5/99 North. This becomes Oak Street. Keep going north on Oak right to the end, down a steep hill and turn left/west on to 6th Ave. Stay on 6th which bears right and becomes 4th Ave after a few blocks. Stay on 4th Ave heading west for many blocks until you cross Alma at the end of the 3600 block, then pass Jericho Park (there is an army barracks on the left, the park is on the right). 4th then bears left up a hill at a traffic signal. Bear right here and one block later turn right into Jericho Park and you will see the sailing centre straight ahead. The slightly more adventurous traveller would take the second exit off the Oak Street Bridge (the bridge over the Fraser River, just after the speed limit drops to 60 km/hr) west on to South West Marine. This bears right and takes you north on Granville Street. Take Granville north, then left/west on 12th Ave. This becomes 10th Ave. At the end of the 3600 block turn right at Alma, then left at 4th Ave and follow the directions as above. All the streets in this part of town are on a rectangular grid (with a few minor wiggles here and there) and knowing that the coordinates of Jericho are the 4200 block west (as found on any east-west avenue) and a couple of blocks north of 4th Ave should get you there if all else fails.
